72 Credit Hour Pre-License Program
Prior to taking the state exam for a broker's license, all sales associates must have been active for at least 2 years.
Sales associates desiring to obtain a broker's license must complete a 72-hour real estate broker pre-license course.
A broker applicant must pass a written multiple-choice state license exam with a minimum score of 75%. The broker areas of competency are based on a knowledge, understanding, and application of real estate law; real estate principles and practices including appraising, finance, investment, brokerage management and real estate mathematics.

Exemption From 72 Credit Hour Education Requirement
Attorneys in good standing and active with the Florida Bar are exempt from the 72-hour sales associate pre-license course, but must make application to DBPR and pass the state exam. Attorneys seeking licensure as a sales associate should include their Florida Bar license number and information in Section III of the state application.
Any applicant who has a 4-year degree in Real Estate from an accredited institution of higher learning is exempt from the 72-hour sales associate pre-license course, but must make application to DBPR and pass the state exam. Applicants seeking licensure as sales associate should include their official transcripts from an accredited institution of higher learning.
